Tokyo Ghoul Synopsis

Tokyo Ghoul takes place in an alternate version of Tokyo, where flesh-eating ghouls live among humans. The series follows the story of Kaneki Ken, a bookish and introverted college student who has a chance encounter with a beautiful girl named Rize Kamishiro at a coffee shop. The two hit it off and agree to go on a date the following night.

However, on their date, Rize reveals herself to be a ghoul and attacks Kaneki, intending to eat him. In a twist of fate, she dies in an accident before she can finish him off, leaving Kaneki gravely injured and in need of a life-saving organ transplant.

Unbeknownst to Kaneki, the organ donor he receives is none other than Rize, and he soon begins to exhibit strange and ghoul-like abilities. As he tries to come to terms with his new identity as a half-ghoul, Kaneki is taken in by a group of ghouls who run a cafe called Anteiku, where they provide sanctuary for other ghouls and help them adapt to life among humans.
