Tanjiro begins his training as a demon slayer under the guidance of a skilled swordsman named Sakonji Urokodaki. He learns the “Breath of Water” swordsmanship technique and develops his strength and agility. Along the way, he meets other demon slayers, including the cheerful and impulsive Inosuke Hashibira and the calm and reserved Zenitsu Agatsuma.

The trio travels together on missions to defeat powerful demons and protect innocent people. As they progress, they encounter more complex and dangerous demons, including Muzan Kibutsuji, the original demon and the leader of the Twelve Kizuki, a group of powerful demons who serve him.

Throughout the series, Tanjiro and his companions encounter a diverse array of characters, each with their own unique backstory and motivations. From the skilled and enigmatic demon slayer, Giyu Tomioka, to the fiercely loyal demon, Tamayo, the characters add depth and richness to the series.

The anime is notable for its stunning animation, breathtaking fight scenes, and emotional depth. It explores themes of loss, grief, and the power of human connections. It also has a strong focus on family and the importance of preserving the memories of loved ones.

Is Demon Slayer worth watching?

The simple answer is YES!

Demon slayer or Kimetsu no yaiba is an absolute must-watch and if you haven’t watched it yet we recommend you stop what you’re doing and watch it now.

However, if you like spoilers here is what we really liked about about this phenomenal anime.

1. Animation and Artwork:

One of the most standout features of “Demon Slayer” is its breathtaking animation and artwork. Ufotable is known for its high-quality animation, and they don’t disappoint in this series. The fight scenes are beautifully choreographed and animated, and the artwork is stunning, especially in the demons’ designs. The use of water effects and lighting creates a unique atmosphere that sets “Demon Slayer” apart from other anime.

2. Characters:

The characters in Demon Slayer are well-developed and memorable. Tanjiro, the protagonist, is a kind-hearted and determined character who always puts others before himself. His sister, Nezuko, is an equally compelling character, who struggles with her demon instincts but still remains loyal to her brother.

The supporting cast of demon slayers, including Zenitsu and Inosuke, adds humor and depth to the story. The villains are also well-written and complex, with tragic backstories that make them more than just one-dimensional monsters.

3. Soundtrack:

The soundtrack of Demon Slayer is also noteworthy, composed by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina. The opening and ending themes are catchy and memorable, and the background music adds to the tension and emotions of each scene. The use of traditional Japanese instruments like the shamisen and taiko drums adds to the overall atmosphere of the anime.

4. The storyline:

Without getting into specifics we’ll just say that this storyline is one of a kind. The story is moving in every way. The narration is spot on and borderline addictive. At the end of episode 26 we were like where is the rest of it. We hope you feel the same way.

Everything that sucks about Demon Slayer

Despite its immense popularity, Kimetsu no Yaiba has not been immune to criticism. Some of the criticisms of the anime include:

Pacing Issues: Some fans have criticized the pacing of the anime, especially in the early episodes, which they feel rushed through important plot points.

Animation Quality: While the animation quality in some scenes of the anime is praised, there are also criticisms about the inconsistent quality of the animation throughout the series.

Character Development: Some viewers feel that some of the characters in the series lack proper development, which makes it difficult to connect with them emotionally.

Lack of Originality: Some viewers have criticized Kimetsu no Yaiba for being too similar to other popular shounen anime, such as Naruto and Bleach, and lacking originality in its storyline.

Treatment of Female Characters: Some viewers have criticized the anime for the way it portrays female characters, arguing that they are often relegated to traditional gender roles and not given enough agency in the story.

It’s important to note that while some viewers may have criticisms of the anime, it remains a beloved and highly successful series that has captured the hearts of many fans around the world.

Final thoughts on Demon Slayer

Overall, Demon Slayer is a must-watch anime for any fan of the genre. The stunning animation, compelling characters, and captivating storyline make it a standout series. The emotional depth and character development are also commendable, as it explores themes of family, loyalty, and revenge.

The only downside is that the anime covers only a small part of the manga, leaving fans hungry for more. However, with a sequel movie and a second season in the works, there’s no doubt that Demon Slayer will continue to be a fan favorite for years to come.
